What is SEND?

SEND stands for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. A child or young person has SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for him or her in order to support them to make progress. SEND at St. Oswald’s CE Primary School is a high priority and our school setting offers this provision via the graduated approach to SEN Support.

• Our Designated SEND lead is Mrs Craven. Mrs Craven completed the National SENDCo award in July 2023. She is supported in her role by our Headteacher, Mrs Beesley, who also holds the National SENDCo award, achieved in July 2019.

What is the Local Offer? 

The Local Offer website provides information for children and young people with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) and their parents or carers, in a single place. It includes information from a range of local agencies, including education, health and social care. Knowing what is out there gives you more choice and therefore more control over what support is right for your child. At St. Oswald’s, we are committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for disabled pupils, staff, and all those receiving services from the school regardless of gender, race, and disability.
