Our First Priority: Keeping Children Safe at St. Oswald’s

Keeping our children and young people safe is everyone’s responsibility.

Safeguarding at St. Oswald’s CE Primary School – At St. Oswald’s, we are fully committed to providing a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for all children, staff, and visitors. We aim to create a climate where children and adults feel confident to speak up about any concerns relating to their own safety or the well-being of others.

Who do I contact?

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for all Safeguarding and Child Protection matters is Mrs Beesley (Headteacher). In her absence, the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Craven (Deputy Headteacher).

Our Safeguarding Governor is Mrs Farrelly, who supports the school in ensuring safeguarding remains a high priority.

All visitors to the school are required to read our safeguarding information leaflet, which can be found below.

At St. Oswald’s, we recognise that children can be deeply affected by adult behaviours at home, including experiences of domestic abuse. In partnership with Cheshire Police, St. Oswald’s is part of an initiative called Operation Encompass. This scheme is designed to safeguard and support children who have been involved in, witnessed, or been exposed to domestic abuse. Following such incidents, children may arrive at school feeling anxious, upset, or unable to focus. Operation Encompass ensures that key members of staff are informed promptly, enabling us to provide sensitive and timely support to help each child feel safe, secure, and ready to learn.
