Coming Together in Faith: Collective Worship at St. Oswald’s CE Primary School

Collective Worship is at the heart of daily life at St. Oswald’s. It is a special and valued time when our whole school community comes together to pause, reflect, and grow in faith.

As a Church of England school, our worship is rooted in Christian values and teachings, helping to shape our shared ethos and sense of belonging. Worship takes place every day and is an important part of nurturing the spiritual life of our school.

Worship is carefully planned each term and follows a structured timetable. However, this may occasionally be adapted to respond to particular events or the needs of the school community.

While our collective worship is wholly Christian in nature, we also ensure that pupils gain a respectful understanding of other world faiths through our Religious Education curriculum. Here is a ‘typical’ weekly timetable for St. Oswald’s Collective Worship:

Our Prayers:

Morning Prayer

Today is a new day,
I am in your hands Lord,
Be with me in all I do, in all I think, in all I say,
I ask these things in Jesus Christ’s name,
Amen.

Lunchtime Prayer

Bless us, O Lord,
As we sit together,
Bless the food we eat,
Bless the hands that made the food,
Bless us, O Lord,
Amen.

End of Day Prayer

Dear Lord,
Thank you that you promise us
That when two or more come together in Your name,
You are with us.
Thank you Lord that you have been with us throughout this day,
And that you are with us right now.
Inspire us as we leave this place, to love and serve You always.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
